Lounge music, or lounge for short, refers to various types of music suitable for background noise in bars and lounges, usually of a relaxing nature.
Lounge music is not a genre name, but a catch-all term for various styles that are used throughout the music industry. Lounge music includes electronic music and acoustic music. It ranges from electronic variations (from environmental and travel jumping, to quieter home performances and hybrid forms such as acid jazz, new jazz, new age and new electronic tango) to older styles such as smooth jazz and easy listening. Among the newer genres assigned to casual music are many elements of traditional regional music styles, such as rhythms of Latin American and African music or typical singing.
