DJ Plus – the modern alternative to a big party band
There wasn’t a traditional big party band on stage. Instead, a modern “DJ-plus” lineup provided the evening’s music: a DJ, a female singer, a male singer, a percussionist, and a saxophonist combined club sounds with live music.
It is precisely this combination that works exceptionally well at trade show parties and modern corporate events. The DJ provides the musical foundation and can respond flexibly to the audience. At the same time, live vocals, saxophone, and percussion bring to the stage exactly the kind of live experience that DJ-only music simply cannot offer.
The impact at InnoTrans was immediately apparent: People were dancing in front of the stage, and the entire booth was buzzing with activity.
When a DJ and live music come together to form a party band
These days, a party band doesn’t necessarily have to consist of six, eight, or even more musicians.
DJ-Plus setups offer event organizers an interesting alternative: They require less stage space, can be configured flexibly, and combine the latest dance, club, and party sounds with the energy of professional live musicians.
The saxophone and percussion, in particular, create a direct connection with the audience. The singers, in turn, turn the DJ set into a true live experience.
Depending on the event, such a lineup can consist, for example, of a DJ and a saxophonist, a DJ and a singer, or a larger “DJ Plus” ensemble featuring vocals, saxophone, and percussion.
Party Night at InnoTrans Berlin
This performance was also interesting to me because I was already familiar with the musicians. The singer and the DJ are friends with a singer who was also performing at InnoTrans that evening with one of the party bands we had booked. I also know other members of the group from the events industry.
We didn’t organize the exhibit shown here ourselves. That made it all the more enjoyable to stop for a moment while walking through the exhibition halls and see just how well this modern concept resonated with the visitors.
A party band or DJ Plus for trade shows and corporate events?
Which lineup is more suitable always depends on the event.
A large live band offers the intense interplay of many musicians and a classic stage show. A DJ-Plus lineup, on the other hand, is particularly flexible and combines modern DJ sounds with select live elements.
DJ Plus can therefore be an exciting alternative to the traditional party band, especially for trade show parties, company events, and corporate events.
In the end, it’s not just the number of musicians that matters. What matters is whether the group connects with the audience.
And at this party night at InnoTrans, the answer was clear: the booth was dancing.
