Can-Can Show
A show dance journey in the style of the Lido with young attractive dancers let the Parisian attitude to life blossom in Berlin.
The Cancan is a fast French dance in 2/4 time, which originated around the year 1830 in Paris. The most famous music for the dance was created by Jacques Offenbach in his operetta Orpheus in the Underworld, which premiered in 1858.

More

  • The Cancan dance was initially called Le Chahut – French for noise, riot, spectacle. The dance was a sign of outbreak, of freedom.
  • The dance, which originated in Paris, was labeled a “public nuisance”by the authority and banned. Many dancers faced prison sentences.
  • Once revolutionary, the cancan has also become victim of commercialization. Many tourists, for example, marvel at pretty women dancing the cancan at the Moulin Rouge.
